“CALL ME SHIVA”

Shiva is a photographer, educator, handwoven artist, & former dog musher.

She is a Modern Renaissance Woman.

Born in Ohio, but resting her bones all over the United States, She began adventuring by pursuing a Marine Biology Degree in Hawai’i for her undergrad. Like most Creatives, she switched her major too many times, and finished in Ohio with a International Relations Degree and minor in Arabic. She has spent large amounts of her life living in Israel, Washington D.C., Maine, Cape Cod, Washington state, New Zealand, Norway and finally in Alaska for the past 8 years. Documenting each journey as she ventures.

Her Photographic background includes working as a studio, tour, commercial, and wedding photographer. Accepted into the SPEOS Photographic Institute in France and with the intent of moving to Paris in the Fall, life had other plans and kept Shiva Midwest bound for another year. She served in Americorps while living across the Eastern Seaboard and then migrating to the West where she pursued a career in Dog Mushing and Teaching.

After several years of chasing the winter to dog mush year round, Shivani and her now husband Elliot settled in Bristol Bay, Alaska. She worked as a 6-12 Social Studies Educator and began her small photography business. Life again shook, and relocated Shiva, Elliot, and their now 4 sled dogs to Wisconsin.

Newly resettled in SouthEast Wisconsin, she spends her time on the family farm growing flowers, documenting daily life, weaving earrings, kayaking Wisco rivers, & ski-joring with her pack of sled dogs in the winter.
